How to prepare for your Hijama appointment?

Starting the day before your appointment, stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

You can eat until 2.5-2 hours before the appointment.

Fasting for afternoon or evening appointments is not necessary - just avoid a full stomach.

For morning appointments, you may fast, unless it makes you weak or dizzy, in which case it's better to have breakfast, even if it's light, like water and some dates.

On your appointment, bring your Qatar ID.

Also, bring a list of your medication and any medical report you have.

We'll ask you to share your medical history in short with us, to give you the most suitable and safest treatment possible.

Wait a few days with your Hijama appointment, if you:

  • have flu with fever

  • are in the heaviest days of your period

  • started with an antibiotic treatment less than 5 days ago

Although Hijama is generally safe, it is not advised if you:

  • are pregnant

  • have undiagnosed heart problems or a pacemaker

  • have kidney failure

  • have liver failure

  • have a bleeding disorder, for example hemophilia

  • use blood thinners like Warfarin, Aspirin or Heparin

  • DURING cancer treatment (before or several months after would be okay)

If you are currently under treatment of a medical doctor/specialist, especially if  medication is prescribed, check with your doctor if Hijama (blood cupping therapy) is safe for you right now.

Note: Dry Cupping or Gliding Cups Massage may still be suitable for you, and also has plenty of benefits.
